They are suited to a large variety of New Zealand wild birds of bird and have the benefit of being off the ground so other foraging animals like mice and rats can't get at it. These Bird Tables are supplied with a pole sleeve that allows you to position your feeder for optimal viewing anywhere in your yard. Bird tables are ideal to feed a wide range of New Zealand birds and are ideal as a first feeder to attract birds into your yard. Their advantages over other types of feeders are : Birds can easily see the food as they are flying overhead Initially many wild birds are too cautious to feed from many types of feeders but a bird table appears more natural to them Because the food is raised of the ground you will not attract rodents Safe from cats Be patient – it can take a while for birds to get used to feeding at the table. Initially offer a small amount of food regularaly, increasing the amount as more birds find their way to your bird table as the birds find your Keep the food and sugar water topped up regularly in winter and early spring – birds will probably have enough to eat during other times of the year, but may appreciate a source of drinking water in a safe place. The wooden sleeve is designed  to slide over a waratah standard. Waratah standard not included. These are available at Bunnings, Placemakers or farm supply stores in various lengths. Hi Keith The bird feeder is up.  Yay!  I sunk the post into gap7 then glued the feeder and nailed it down with 2x 2inch nails.  I'm not the best with the photos but you'll get the idea. The sugar water is hung on a hook screwed into the feeder. The tuis hang about in the banksia tree so I might try one of your tui feeders when the kowhai blooms. Thanks Keith. I love the feeder.
